Hugh Russell landing his first ever Salmon on the Erics Pool of the Catholes Beat.
The 13lbs sea liced salmon took a devon and was carefully released back to the river. Incidentally this was also Hugh's first ever day's salmon fishing.

This is a picture of a Kelt recently caught on the Catholes. Some anglers may think this is a fresh run salmon but they would be mistaken. Notice the large head in proportion to the rest of its body which is thin. Also the fins are ragged and the eye is down facing. If you catch a Salmon and you are in any doubt then return it safely.

A delighted David Black with a lovely 7lbs springer from the Wash House Pool on a devon. This was his first Salmon for several years.Jim Brown also in the picture had a 12lbs fish as well on the fly which was safely returned. A good day was had by the whole party as we finised with 3 fresh sea liced salmon for the day (20/03/07)

The spring fish are starting to run now with more springers being caught throughout the system. To-day (14/02/07) we were not lucky but there was a 16lbs Salmon caught on the Catholes on the fly and others caught above Stanley. Yesterday we had an 8lbs fish from the Slap on the Catholes and Upper Scone had a 14lbs fish in Horsey on the Pitlochrie beat which was returned.

Geordie catches another springer to-day from the Slap pool on the Catholes (14/03/07).
He has now accounted for our 3 springers this year so far and I still have to get off the mark! You can't hide experience! I thought another picture of the wee man would get your comments like the last picture with Mary from Dublin.

The Crewsader fly has been very successful on the Tay and is not available anywhere else. It is a good fly in clear water conditions and incorporates the Jungle cock on the top and bottom of the fly which makes it different from the norm. A good choice for your fly box.
