Salmon Fishing Scotland White Christmas in Perthshire, Scotland 2009.

Salmon Fishing Scotland White Christmas in Perthshire, Scotland 2009.

The first white Christmas since 2004 and it will be one to remember. The winter scenery is magical. These are some Christmas day images around Stanley on the river Tay in Perthshire, Scotland.

Stanley Mills in winter sunshine on the Pitlochrie beat of the river Tay at Stanley, Perthshire, Scotland. Up on the top right of this picture is the famous Pitlochrie pool that never gets any early spring sunshine and can be a very cold place to pursue that elusive Tay Spring Salmon. The Tay opening is not far away now on 15th January 2010.

The lower Tay beat of Benchil just below Stanley, Perthshire, Scotland shrouded in mist.

The mist starting to rise off the Todd holes pool of the Benchil beat on a bitterly cold Christmas day morning.

Very cold temperatures on the lower Tay stretch of Benchil just below Stanley. This is the plain water pool looking up to the Aitken Head pool on the far bank.
