Salmon Fishing Scotland Salmon Fishing River Tay August Events, Ladies Days.

Fancy casting a line on the River Tay for summer salmon in August?

Ladies Fishing have organised two days salmon fishing on prime Tay beats. The Tay is the home of record fish including the largest ever rod caught salmon in Britain which was caught by Miss Georgina Ballantine in 1922, weighing 64lbs, and which remains the British Record. The event is open to all levels from beginners to experienced female anglers.

Monday 5th August – Robert White of Benchil will guide you on one of the most picturesque beats on the River Tay.

More pictures of the beat.

Some fly action from the beat.
It is about six miles above the tidal reaches and offers many different types of pools to fish especially for fly. The day will consist of fishing and tuition and is priced at £75.00. Catches 2012 – 191 salmon – read more about the beat . Places are limited – please contact anne.woodcock@fishpal.com to book your place or on robert.salmonfishing@googlemail.com.

Evening of 5th August – following in the footsteps of Georgina Ballantyne – ladies attending either day can join us for a BBQ at Miss Ballantine’s cottage overlooking the boat pool where the “Homeric battle” took place. Ladies Fishing have secured the cottage for the 2 days and is available on a first come first serve basis for any ladies wishing to stay there. The cottage sleeps 6 – 1 double, 2 twin rooms.

Tuesday 6th August – Andy Gunn of Newtyle Beat will guide you on two miles of very picturesque middle River Tay. The beat enjoys 2 miles of double bank with 16 named pools. The upper part of the beat overlooks the home of Beatrix Potter and the famous Birnam Woods, mentioned in William Shakespeare’s Macbeth. The day will consist of fishing and tuition price £70. Catches 2012 – 180 salmon – read more about the beat . The beat is enjoying a super 2013 with 128 salmon so far. Places are limited – please contact anne.woodcock@fishpal.com
