Salmon Fishing Scotland Summer Sport on the Tay, Perthshire, Scotland July 2013.

Salmon Fishing Scotland Summer Sport on the Tay, Perthshire, Scotland July 2013.

Salmon fishing on the Tay in Perthshire, Scotland can be magical even when the river is running very low at 2 inches on the Ballathie guage. Salmon always run this mighty river which is one of its largest assets.

This is the Skellies on the Benchil beat just below Stanley where low water fishing can be very productive in the summer as I had confirmed to me today in a crazy hours fishing.

This is am estimated 17 pounds summer salmon from the Skellies. It took a Flying C and gave me a tremendous battle before slipping into the net.

The fish had sea lice on it and took a time to recover before swimming away. Fish take longer to recover at this time of year with the water being warmer so please give them time to recover to maintain sport for the future in this great river.

Not long after I caught this salmon from the same area which was about 10 pounds and also carried sea lice.

The fish recovering in the water before swimming off to continue its journey. Great afternoon and a bit of luck to collide with a run going through the river.
